Located on beautiful South Whidbey Island, Washington, the Arbor Rouge Cottage is a short ferry trip ride from the Mukilteo Terminal, two miles once off the boat, and offers many fun things to see and do during your visit.  Langley, our City by the Sea, is a short 6 miles away.  Established in the early nineteen hundreds, the town retains much of its historical charm and is annually nominated as one of the top ten towns to visit in the United States.  Explore the seaside village with quaint gift shops, art and glass galleries, antiques, chocolatier, wine merchants, distilleries, and great seafood, Italian, and home grown restaurants plus family friendly pubs and coffee houses.

Tour Whidbey Island Wineries and Microbreweries and Distilleries.  Walk Seawall Park in Langley and picnic on the beach.  Rent Kayaks, bikes, motor scooters or take a whale watching cruise at the Langley Marina.  See first run movies at the Clyde Theatre and/or go to the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts (WICA) to see internationally acclaimed performers of music and drama.

The Island has 5 state parks with Deception Pass and Fort Casey a must-visit.  Ebey’s Landing on central Whidbey is a scenic vista and a friendly hike.  We are also home to Penn Cove Mussels which are shipped all over the world.  Visit the Earth Sanctuary and Meerkerk Rhododendron Gardens, historic Bayview Corner or the Langley Whale Center. The weekends are busy with Farmer’s Markets so take a bag with you for all the delectables to be found.  The Island is a major Wedding destination so the cottage has a convenient location.

There is always something happening here on the Island!  We have Langley Mystery Weekend, Garden Tours, Chocolate and wine tours, Loganberry Festival, Island County Fair, Writers Colony, Coupeville Arts & Crafts, an active Symphony schedule, and Island Shakespeare Festival, so there is something for everyone.  You can be as busy as you want while seeing the sites by bike, or, walking the many trails and relaxing while being intimate with nature.  The island provides one of the most significant wildlife corridors  so avid photographers will love the countryside, water, nature and spectacular sunsets.  There is much to see and do, just ask your hostess to guide you in the right direction.  Or, just plan on relaxing and being spoiled by nature and the slow pace of “Island Time”.
